Are You a Phi Delt Until the End?
If So, We’re Looking for You!
We often hear similar stories from Phi Delt alumni:
- “The experience made me who I am today.”
- “I made lifelong friends.”
- “I learned valuable leadership skills that shaped my career.”
Every day, we’re striving to document these stories and bring them to life with the goal of keeping our alumni network connected and thriving, and maintaining the proud legacy of our fraternity. We’re counting on brothers like you to share their experiences, memories, and photos.
An Exciting Season Lies Ahead of Us
Ohio State Linebackers Added to Butkus Award Watch List
This football season is definitely going to be one that puts you on the edge of your seat. Last year, the Buckeyes finished with an 11-2 record, losing only to Penn State and Clemson in the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl.
Dare we say Ohio State could finally achieve that sought-after undefeated season?
We’ve got a killer lineup this year with 19 players on preseason watch lists (check out the lists here)!
Throwback to 1989 Intramural Flag Football
Check out this throwback photo from 1989. A few Phi Delts, including Bryan Knaack ’91, Steven Philabaum ’89, Mike Devine ’90, and Scott Passias ’93, posed after a game of intramural flag football.

Remembering the “Good Old Days”
Gary Morin ’71 is Reminded Just How Much Phi Delt Meant to Him
Looking back at his Phi Delt days, Gary Morin ’71 quickly realizes that the fraternity meant more to him than he often gives it credit for.
“Phi Delt is really the only root I feel I have to Ohio State,” he admits.
With Ohio State being such a big school, Gary explains that Phi Delt gave him a “home” on campus and friends he could identify with. The older brothers also played a key role in helping him navigate the sometimes tricky transition from high school to college.
Save the Date: Homecoming Weekend 2017
There are few more exciting events that call alumni back to Columbus than Homecoming. This year’s event will take place October 6-8, and we expect to see you there!
Mark your calendars now. Don’t miss out on tours of campus, the parade and pep rally, tailgating with your Ohio Zeta brothers, and of course, the Buckeyes taking on the Maryland Terps at the Horseshoe!
How Did Ohio Zeta Influence You?
Over the years, we’ve documented the stories of Ohio Zeta Brothers spanning the decades. We’ve had the pleasure of sharing the stories of so many dedicated and successful alumni, such as:
- Dave Burba ’88, former MLB pitcher
- Patrick Hylant ’70, Chairman of one of the nation’s largest privately held insurance brokers (Hylant)
- Robert Laughhunn ’74
- Ric Moody ’76, who found his true home at PDT after pledging elsewhere
- Kent Flaherty ’78
- Jim Sauter ’99, who is certain his life wouldn’t be the same without Ohio Zeta
These busy brothers took just 15 minutes out of their day for Phi Delta Theta, sharing their life stories and why they’re passionate about the fraternity. Can you spare 15 minutes to answer a few questions about your Phi Delta Theta years, the impact they made on your life, and where you are now? If so, take this short survey.
Second Time’s a Charm
After Pledging Elsewhere, Legacy Ric Moody ’76 Finds True Home at PDT
Quite often, a son will follow his father’s footsteps into Greek Life, setting his heart on the same family of brothers that he has heard so much about.
But for Ric Moody ’76, the path was not so clear.
“My father didn’t influence my choice of fraternity,” he explains. “I actually pledged Sigma Chi and was pledge class president, but after a while, I decided it wasn’t for me. I de-pledged and pledged Phi Delta Theta.”
