Former MLB Pitcher Shares his Phi Delt Experience

We recently caught up with Dave Burba, former MLB pitcher, about his Phi Delta Theta membership and his alumni years.

Q: What’s new in your life today?

A: Currently I am a AA pitching coach with the Colorado Rockies. I live in Gilbert, AZ and have a wife, Star, and 3 kids (Madison 23, Dylan 21, and Dawson 15).

This Alum Has No Shortage of Ties to Phi Delta Theta

Brian Lewis ’78 has ties to Phi Delta Theta everywhere he looks. He was lucky enough to have met his wife through Ohio Zeta Chapter in 1977, has a younger brother who also pledged Ohio Zeta, and currently works alongside a fellow Phi Delt.

“I met my wife, Kim, at a Phi Delta Theta-Kappa Gamma party in Feb. 1977. Of course…”

Friends, Brothers, Colleagues

Networking made simple with the Phi Delt Network Mobile App

Phi Delta Theta isn’t just for college days…it’s a lifelong bond with your friends and brothers. We live together in the Chapter House, graduate together, come back for Homecoming, attend each other’s weddings, send birthday and Christmas cards and comment on each other’s Facebook posts. And sometimes, if we’re really lucky, we get to work together too!

Several of our Ohio Zeta brothers are lucky enough to work with their fellow brothers:

We’re 168 Years Old!

Phi Delta Theta celebrated its 168th birthday on Dec. 26. That’s 168 years of tradition, initiations, memories and brotherhood. Since its beginning in 1848, Phi Delta Theta has grown to nearly 190 chapters and colonies in 42 states and five Canadian provinces. Now, that’s something worth celebrating! What are you most thankful to Phi Delta […]

Alumni Weekend: You’re Invited!

I wanted to invite all alumni of Ohio Zeta Phi Delta Theta to our alumni weekend we will be hosting on November 11-12. During this weekend we would like to show you the $150,000 worth of renovations that have been made to the house, as well as areas that are in desperate need of repair. We currently have 47 members living in the house, an active chapter of over 90 members and have recently been STEP approved, which means that sophomores are now able to live in the house instead of the dorms. This is a big step in the right direction, but we need to continue improving our house in order to remain STEP approved.

Eight Brothers Make Time to Reconnect

Ohio Zeta held a tailgate at Ohio Stadium before watching the Buckeyes cream the Indiana Hoosiers 38-17 on October 8. (L-R) Scott Armstrong (left back), Brian Bandi, Chris Peele, Bruce Rothermund, Sean McKee, Dan Wise, Don Hersman, Tom Foster. It just goes to show you that, no matter the distance or how busy life may get, […]

Robert Laughhunn ’74: Football Championship and Toga Parties

Robert Laughhunn ’74 was lucky enough to meet his wife of 42 years while in Ohio Zeta Chapter and, 30 years later, his son, Andrew, became an Ohio Zeta alumnus as well. Robert and his wife have big plans for next year and are close to finishing their bucket list.

43 Years of Homecoming Memories

Homecoming is the perfect time to come back to Columbus, watch some great football and catch up with your brothers. We just celebrated Homecoming and a huge Buckeye victory (58-0) on October 1. Even more impressive than that incredible football score, though, is the brotherly bond and dedication of a group of Ohio Zeta alumni who have been coming together to celebrate for the last 43 years.
