Jeff Dahl ’82: “Never lose focus on your family…”

Q: Why did you join Ohio Zeta Chapter in the first place?

A: Several guys from Centerville High School had already paved the way. Over my four years there were over 20 Brothers from Centerville in the Chapter.

Q: What’s your favorite memory from your time in the chapter?

A: The road trips to other Ohio Chapters and Greek Date parties were a blast, but Greek Week and our annual Pig Roast were some of my favorites. And Buckeye games are still an annual tradition.

Q: Do you still keep in touch with any of your fellow alums? Who?

A: Yes, many. Some include Mark Shepard ’83—I was just at his daughter’s wedding—Kurt Spangenberg ’82, Kent Garmen, Jeff Henry ’83, and of course Chip Bond ’83 (who married my sister, Judy, Pi Beta Phi ’84).

Q: Tell us about your job title and what you do.

A: Currently Co-CEO of a Dallas-based consumer products company, Nerium International. We operate in five countries today, and I spend most of my time sitting in airplanes.

Q: How did your time in Ohio Zeta Chapter help to prepare you for that role?

A: Taught the importance of networks and friends, and belonging to something bigger than yourself. Can’t go through life, or your career, alone!

Q: Tell us about your family/hobbies.

A: Married Sonya (Pi Beta Phi ’83). Kids – Kirsten (Baylor) is a Doctor in Charleston, SC. Erik (US Naval Academy) is a Navy Helicopter Pilot, married a UM Gopher, and is a new father. And Jared (Oklahoma senior) will be hosting the upcoming OU-OSU tailgate party!

I spend my weekends on a cycle and occasionally compete.  The Hotter ’N Hell 100 is just three weeks away!

Q: What would you say is your biggest accomplishment?

A: Balancing a career that spanned four continents and 30+ countries with family. Never lose focus on your family, and try to enjoy every moment with them. Living in Hong Kong was particularly rewarding for all of us.

Q: What advice would you give to future generations of PDT Chapter members?

A: Get engaged, build a network and build your resume! The steps you take today will have a long-term impact on your future.
